From 1981-1983 Sylvena completed an apprenticeship as a retail sales person and then from 1986 to 1987 as a finance and accounts administrator at the Humboldt-Universität.

Sylvena has worked at Humboldt-Universität since 1985 and at the Centre for British Studies since 1996. Her main responsibilities include the management of all the Centre’s finances, technical facilities, personnel and the Centre’s students’ certificates.
